Request for Proposal: CHAG HIV/TB CSS
Technical Assistance to Support the implementation of Engaging and Sustaining Over the Counter Medicine sellers/Community Pharmacies in TB Case Finding and HIV self-testing under the NFM3 Community Systems Strengthening (CSS) Program.
Regions of focus and duration of assignment:
Zone 1: Upper west, Upper East, Northern (North East & Savannah),
Zone 2: Ashanti, Central and Greater Accra.
For a period of six months, the TAs will support the execution of the following tasks:

Support the training and refresher trainings of community pharmacies and chemical shop staff |

TB case finding by engaging Community pharmacies and chemical shops |
Coordinate screening at community pharmacies/over the counter chemical shops followed by sputum collection and/or referral and diagnostics at closest private or public facilities |

TB case finding by contact investigations |
Coordinate screening of contacts in households of index patients at community level followed by sputum sample collection or referral and diagnostics at closest private or public facility |

Other strategies supporting TB case finding |
Coordinate retrospective contact tracing of previously diagnosed TB patients with TB champions in districts where they are present. Support the design of pull up banners and SBCC materials for community pharmacies and chemical shops to create TB awareness and testing, and educate clients visiting the chemical shops/pharmacies. Suggest for consideration sustainable incentives for referral completion and TB diagnosis. |

Sputum transportation |
Design a community level sputum transportation system for community pharmacies/OTCMS in each region that aligns with the national sputum referral system |

Monitoring and supportive supervision |
Supervision of sputum collection and transportation to designated laboratories using motor bikes or Ghana Post sputum transport system. |
Supervision of community pharmacies/OTCMS screening to improve identification and quality of TB presumptive cases |

Qualification
Minimum academic qualification of a master’s degree in public health, community development or related area. Prior experience of the NFM2 community-based active TB case finding; as well as the systematic TB case finding using the private health sector, community pharmacies and chemical shops is an added advantage.
